If you are a lover of single ended triode amplifiers, no doubt you are familiar with the mighty B. The mightiest of them all are the vintage Western Electric Bs, and then if you can find them, the reissued WE Bs that came out around or so.
Never should have gotten rid of those. Oh well. Today, the B amps have had a bit of a resurgence and to some, they never went away — just like vinyl but there are no incredible tubes to power them with. Having listened to more than my share of the current Bs, most manufacturers have settled on Electro Harmonix or JJ, because they are available.
Nope, these are 5, hour tubes on a good day. Most manufacturers have voiced around the current tubes, but that only goes so far. Not so bad if you have SET monoblocks, but it gets a bit spendy if you need four of em. Where the Nagra has exceptional bass control, due to its massive, tight tolerance output transformers that are wound in-house, the EAT tubes bring a nearly solid state like grip to the lowest frequencies.
An equal level of excitement is had on the upper register as well. Stringed instruments take on a more three-dimensional quality, with more texture. Pick your favorite acoustic guitar piece that you know well, and you will be surprised at how much more real the strings sound while being played, as well as the overtones that hang in the air after the strings have been struck. This is the stuff we all love B amplifiers for in the first place and the EAT tubes give you more of it.
I highly recommend their Bs, and hope to give the KT88s a spin sooner than later. North American Distributor: vanaltd. The RSS feed provided is for personal, non-commercial use only.

Now that we've discussed possible lurking hazards life is never easylet's take a look at the seductions posed by over-specified Bs.
Some manufacturers imply that you get a higher power output from your amp when you install a high-dissipation B eg18Wpc output instead of 9Wpc from a typical SE amplifier.
This is not true. The amplifier would have to be redesigned to fully take advantage of a tube's higher maximum anode dissipation. The output generated is a strict function of the available power-supply voltage, the specified anode current, and the output transformer's impedance including load. If, in an existing amplifier, an increased anode current should occur and result in higher power output rarely more than one or two extra wattsthis means that the output transformer wasn't correctly designed in the first place, and that there would be power loss using normal, traditionally spec'ed Bs to which it wasn't optimally matched.
A "heavy" B might sound more powerful, though, because of its more rugged construction. Before we turn to the evaluation itself, a few more warnings: I don't have to tell you that Bs are expensive, so treat them with care—and I mean more than just avoiding breaking the glass envelope.
The B is directly heated, so the heater is not safely tucked away inside the cathode as in a 6CA7, aor most other power tubes—in a B, the heater is the cathode. It's hung from springs or wires inside the anode, in order to keep it from touching the grid. This kind of filament is brittle when warm, so let it cool completely before handling the tube—or the amplifier.
If you should ever see one or more segments of your B not glowing while the others are, beware of that tube: if a part of a broken filament should bend and touch the grid, the anode current will quadruple, which can damage your amplifier. Also, there are rumors that acids from your fingertips can migrate through the glass and slightly change the tube's performance, which is why certain people always use gloves while handling expensive tubes. I have never seen any proof of this assumption, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
The B has two thick pins for the filament and two thinner pins for anode and grid. This should exclude the possibility of inserting the tube into its socket in the wrong orientation, but I've seen sockets that don't care about pin size and will accept the tube in any orientation; needless to say, this could damage the amplifier. So study the socket before inserting a new B. Better still, while removing your old B, note which holes its thick pins were in. And this article about the heavenly sounds of our beloved Bs was supposed to be fun The Roundup Eleven different Bs were tried in two amplifiers in many listening sessions—the sidebar lists the equipment used—with a listening panel present at four of the sessions.
We had more than one pair available of most of the Bs, for backup and double-check reasons. I am happy to report that none of the tubes malfunctioned footnote 1.
Table 1 shows the results. Tubes with filament currents above 1. Verify that the amplifier's power supply can handle a tube's filament current before you try it footnote 3. Svetlana has since made changes to its line. Once Svetlana sends me the new samples, I'll report my findings.
I prefer to grant the AVVT B, now in its third incarnation, some more time to prove its reliability. Footnote 3: If an amplifier develops a soft hum through the speakers following insertion of a high-filament-current B, this does not necessarily mean that the amp is damaged.

From which factory though? And who were the makers and who were the rebadgers? What else might one learn about the present-day Czech-based B makers? Brian kindly took time out of his busy day to paint the Chinese picture based on his personal experiences living and working there: "TJ started as a joint venture between a Taiwanese company and Mr.
Liu, former chief engineer for Beijing Tube works maker of tubes for the military from the 50ss. Their brand name was Allmusic. The cooperation fell apart and the Taiwan side withdrew. Liu then starting manufacturing under the Fullmusic name and continues today as the Fullmusic tube factory in Tianjin, about 50km to the west of Beijing on the coast. Also, a 2. He gave us some samples of his new mesh plate B, the solid-plate version and the D, B etc.
We were both impressed with the B tubes and decided to help promote Mr.Wii u title keys usb helper
I sent a pair each of the B mesh plate and solid plate and the Valve Art tubes reviewed to Thorsten who did his comparative review in EnjoyTheMusic. Although the mesh plate garnered the most attention, I always preferred the solid plate.
We each got a Sofia curve tracer and curve traced every tube we received. We started selling the Fullmusic factory tubes under the TJ name. We rejected hundreds of tubes but Mr.
Liu was always very good at replacing the faulty ones and later the numbers rejected dropped considerably. After the TJ name became quite well known, Richard of Sophia began to sell Fullmusic factory tubes under the Sophia brand name. Basically the difference between Fullmusic, TJ and Sophia is the printing on the base and the screening as done by the distributor.
Liu to manufacture some non-W. At first Mr. Liu kept coming up with new tube creations that wouldn't fit any existing amps. It's taken a long time to get the message across that most customers will not build an amp around a tube.
Jadson is an engineer who works out of the Shuguang tube factory in Changsha, Hunan.
He personally supervises the production of tubes for Valve Art's branding and has up until recently had some models produced especially for Valve Art. However since that time, demand has outstripped the factory's capacity to produce so I'm not sure what new things will be on the horizon for the audio tube world.Son zuciya 24
Recent new releases with etc seem to be semi-finished products with loads of QC problems. Also, our waiting time for tube orders has gone from 2 weeks to 2 to 4 months now. At one time Mr. Liu told me he had to buy the filament wire from SGTF but even so, he has his own way of processing the wire before he uses it. Especially Mr.

These are great tubes for the money. I have four of these in my Dynaco ST and they have provided a rich, clear sound going on 10 years now with zero issues. I erroneously ordered two replacement EL34Bs because I thought one had finally blown, but the issue turned out to be the GZ34 rectifier tube. So now I have some backsups and the originals just keep going.
I have been using these tubes for the last 2 yrs,They sound pretty good. The main thing is Who you buy the tubes from. If you buy a Quad one tube will be bad and you will need to return. Out of the 3 quads I have bought I returned each one Once you finally get a good pair or quad they last pretty good.
Take it easy warming the tubes up,and how hard you play them They take about 10 hrs to set in. The Valve Art tube is bright with good headroom. If you are looking for "the brown sound" these are not the tube to get, there more for playing like The Who or Free Great Classic 's Marshall grind If the tubes are bad you will know in a day or So buy from a good tube store with No Hassle return.
That is why I gave them a 4 out of I am liking these more and more every time I use them. The consistency is about average for modern valves, so they won't last as long, and some will fail early, but for the price these sound very good, and even if you do need to retube every 3 weeks, you won't break the bank doing it.
I miss the Shu Guang 6CA7 fat bottles! These are a very nice option in the EL34 assortment. Valve Art seems to possibly do some rudimentary pretesting, and seems to cull out the junk.
For the price, I will grant 5 stars. If I were comparing with NOS, this modern stuff would barely rate one or two stars, but I am considering price and availability, in my ratings. The Chinese will, hopefully strive to make better and better valves.
It would not break my heart to see them eliminate some of the competition, so long as they do it by making a better assortment of higher quality valves. I love these. Great service and these Valve Art tubes are definitely under rated.
Love the sound and hopefully they will last long term. The following items can be substituted for this product.
